Nutritional Yeast: A Cheesy B-Vitamin that’s fun to eat

Commonly, nutritional yeast has been referred to as brewers yeast. Although it is considered a yeast, it is a deactivated yeast and cannot be used for baking.

Nutritional yeast is a superior source of protein and includes all of the essential amino acids. 50% of it is protein and it is one of the best sources of B-complex vitamins, including B12. Nutritional yeast has been a very popular food item among vegans due to its cheesy, buttery and creamy flavor, but because cooking can destroy most of the nutrients in anything, if your trying to get the full effect and benefit of nutritional yeast as a supplement it is better to eat it raw sprinkled on top of things. It is good on top of salads, pasta, pizza, soups, popcorn and even veggies.
