African Black Soap

Do you have sensitive skin or know someone with acne, eczema or psoriasis? I never used to use bar soap in the past because it always irritated my eczema, gave me a rash or dried my skin out. A lot of the bar soaps on the market are full of harsh additives and chemicals including laurel sulfates, parabens and perfumes/fragrances. Body washes especially are known to have added ingredients in them that are totally worthless. What happened to just showering to get clean? Even the organic or natural face washes have some harsh additives.

Many people use body wash and then have a separate face wash, but the best thing about African Black soap is that you can use it everywhere without having to worry about irritants on the face or in any other sensitive places.

In the past I found it hard to find something simple other than just another face astringent that would soon dry my face out and give me more or other problems that i did not have to begin with. All of the bar soaps I found were too hard for my skin so in turn I just kept washing with water in hopes that I could stop all of the irritants all together, but I still just didn’t feel “clean”.

In a strict search for something natural we came across the well talked about African black soap! There are some out there on the market that have included fragrances in them so try to opt for something raw, organic and natural when looking for a black soap for you and your family.

African Black soap is known to help fade skin discolorations, relieve dry and irritated skin, and even skin texture and tone through time and use. Although I do have to say that I haven’t had skin tone issues in the past, I did find that it really helped me with my dry and irritated skin through the harsh winter cold.

If there is anything that I might add as well. Some issues such as acne can be a sign of the body ridding of unwanted toxins. Dairy can be really irritating, and so can sugar and other processed foods. If you find that African Black soap is not working by itself, try cutting back on the dairy, sugar and processed foods for a while and see how this affects your breakouts.

So how does the soap work? What is  it made of that is so nourishing to the skin?

Well, what makes African Black Soap so special is that it is known to have an abundance of antioxidants and vitamins A and E that help to benefit the skin that other soaps do not have. Most black soaps are made from the ashes of plantain skin, cocoa pod and palm leaves, and palm oil from leaves or kernels and some include other ingredients such as honey, Shea-butter or cocoa butter.

Here are just a few ingredients that you can find in most African Black Soaps on the market.

Plantain skins and leaves have a high concentration of iron and vitamins A and E.  Vitamin E is known to help with tissue structure witch in turn helps with structure and tone. Vitamin A benefits collagen production and the Allantoin in the leaves of plantain stimulates the growth of new skin cells.

Palm kernel oil is extracted from the fruit seeds of the African palm tree.  It is high in lauric acid giving it anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties.

Shea butter (karite butter) made from the nuts of the karite tree, also has vitamins A and E to strengthen skin and repairs damage.  It has been used to heal burns, sores and scars, and to treat psoriasis, eczema, and dermatitis. It is good for treatment of acne scars because it is non-comedogenic and has anti-microbial properties and is known to help promote cell renewal and diminish appearance of wrinkles.
